Gansu's Kangxian county celebrates harvest festival with vibrant events

Huamiao village in Kangxian county, Longnan, Gansu province, came alive with the 2026 Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival celebrations on Sept 8, featuring agricultural product exhibitions, cultural displays, farming competitions, and a cultural gala.
The rice harvesting competition saw participants from various villages rolling up their pants and wielding sickles, competing amid waves of rice. Spectators cheered them on, filling the fields with applause and laughter.
Adding to the excitement was the fish-catching contest in the rice field. Participants, barefoot in the paddy, chased and caught fish, each successful catch met with cheers from the crowd.

In the agricultural products exhibition area, farmers and cooperatives showcased homegrown rice, walnuts, and seasonal produce, attracting visitors to sample and purchase. Meanwhile, the calligraphy and photography display area featured works themed on harvest celebrations and integrity culture.
As night fell, a cultural gala unfolded with over a dozen performances, including dance, recitation, and songs, receiving continuous applause.
This Harvest Festival series exemplified Kangxian county's commitment to grassroots cultural enrichment and showcased technological advancements in agriculture, offering farmers a well-deserved moment of celebration.
