Rare footage captures two snow leopards together in Gansu's Qilian Mountains
Two snow leopards, a first-class nationally protected species in China, have been captured by infrared cameras at the Haxi Nature Protection Station in the Qilian Mountains National Nature Reserve in Gansu province. The footage shows the elusive big cats appearing in the same frame.
The cameras also recorded a snow leopard marking its territory and stretching in the wild, offering a glimpse into the animals' behavior in their natural habitat.
Local conservation staff members are working to protect wildlife and improve habitats in the Qilian Mountains, where the snow leopard population remains stable.
