Linxia Hui autonomous prefecture

Linxia Hui autonomous prefecture, known as Hezhou in the past, is located in the central and southwestern part of Gansu province. It is a golden location on the "hui - Tibet style grassland scenery line" in Gansu province, with a total area of 8169 km2. It had a resident population of 2.0714 million at the end of 2019. It is also the main point of the South Road of the ancient Silk Road, the location of the important towns of Tang and Vassal, and the center of the Tea Horse Interchange market, which gave it some beautiful titles such as "the origin of the flood control by Yu, the King", "the dry dock in western China", "the hometown of Chinese painted pottery", "the hometown of Chinese flowers", "the exhibition garden of ethnic architectural art" and "the garden of ancient life".

A large number of precious ancient mammal fossils such as platybelodon, three-toed horses, and Zhengyang sheep were unearthed in Linxia prefecture and Hezheng county, providing important proof of the "relationship between different biological species in different times and spaces" in the world, and the prefecture has the only museum of vertebrate paleontology in China. The "Colorful Pottery King" unearthed in Jishishan county, Linxia prefecture is famous for its unique shapes and patterns, and now the original is in the National Museum of China. The World Cultural Heritage Bingling Temple Grottoes, one of the most famous grottoes in China, has a history of more than 1,600 years.

Linxia prefecture is rich in water resources. It’s home to the Taohe River, the Daxia River and the Huangshui River, three first-level tributaries of the Yellow River, and more than 30 of its third-level tributaries; so it is an important water supply area in the upper reaches of the Yellow River. The three famous power station storage areas of Liujiaxia, Yanwexia and Bapan gorges are located here. The strong traditional breeding industry atmosphere, halal animal husbandry and many live animal trading markets have injected a strong impetus into Linxia's economic development.

Having green mountains, clear rivers, and a great ecological environment, Linxia prefecture has 107 tourist attractions, including five at the national level. In addition to the national 4A-level scenic spots like “Yellow River Three Gorges”, Songming Rock, Lotus Mountain, Dadun Gorge and other beautiful natural locations, there also are the Bingling Temple Grottoes, Qijia Culture, Bafang thirteen Lane and other colorful natural and cultural attractions. The number, variety, scale and completeness of Hezheng ancient animal fossils is tops in the world, and the fossils have extremely high value for collection, exhibition, scientific research and science popularization.
