Lanzhou, Gansu province, has launched activities for the 2026 Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival in celebration of the autumn harvest.

In Weiying township, Yuzhong county, the terraced fields have transformed into a golden sea, with millet swaying in the breeze. As a key demonstration area for cold-arid agriculture in northern Yuzhong, Weiying has begun a large-scale millet harvest. This initiative is part of the county's efforts to build a modern cold-arid agricultural service system.

In Heishi village, Gaolan county, rows of mature corn are being harvested. Large harvesters maneuver in S-shaped routes, efficiently collecting corn and stalks, which are then shredded and loaded into transport trucks.

Lanzhou New Area launched the 2026 Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival celebrations in Xicha town on Sept 22. The event featured cultural performances, agricultural experiences, product exhibitions, and folk festivities, allowing the residents to celebrate the harvest together. The Qindong Ecological Farm hosted a heartwarming hot pot feast with local delicacies. Competitions like noodle-making, mooncake-making, tug-of-war, and fun relays added excitement.

Additionally, in Qilihe district's Lanzhou Old Street market, 16 stalls showcased a variety of products, including a full range of lily products and cultural creative products as well as pastries and cooked wheaten food. The tasting area allowed visitors to sample these offerings, highlighting the unique quality of Lanzhou lilies.
