Folksingers deliver quintessential hua'er performances
Experts and scholars of hua'er, a unique style of folk song popular in western China, launched a field trip in Songmingyan Scenic Area in Hezheng county, Linxia Hui autonomous prefecture, Gansu province, on June 14.
Many folksingers demonstrated their wonderful singing voices in front the camera, attracting a large number of tourists.
Hua'er is a representative Hui ethnic folk song. A majority of folk songs are themed with romance and center on the daily life of the Hui ethnic group. Local people often gather in the beautiful mountains and forests, and among the lucid waters and lush mountains to share their songs in a much anticipated thematic event.
In 2004, Linxia was named the "Hometown of Chinese Hua'er" by the Chinese Folk Literature and Art Society.
