Over 100 workers are busy picking, selecting and packing honeydew melons in a village of Xiqu town, Minqin county, Wuwei, Gansu province.

"Our melons have already been assigned to orders from major supermarkets in Shanghai, Zhejiang province and Northeast China. At present, we pick more than 100 tons of melons a day," said the head of sales of a local shed melon planting garden.

In 2023, the planting area of honeydew melons in Xiqu town exceeded 3,666.7 hectares. Honeydew melon cultivation has become a pillar industry for local residents to increase their income and get rich.
