On Jan 16, 2024, at a new energy base in Shandan county of Zhangye, Gansu province, photovoltaic arrays, like the raised spines of a dragon, stretch into the distance, gleaming in the reflection of the setting sun.

During the harsh winter, the once desolate Gobi wasteland now teems with vitality, continuously converting solar energy into electrical energy for the State Grid. Currently, a 548-megawatt photovoltaic power generation project has been connected to the grid, and a 400,000-kilowatt photovoltaic power generation project is under construction.

Located in the wasp-waist of the Hexi Corridor in Gansu province's Zhangye city, Shandan possesses abundant green energy resources, such as wind and solar power. In recent years, the county has fully leveraged its resource and industrial advantages to propel the high-quality development of the local economy.
