Gaolan county in Gansu takes on new look after renovation

In recent years, Gaolan county in Lanzhou, Gansu province, has taken a series of measures to promote urban renewal and improve happiness among its residents.

Ensuring the safe operation of urban gas, water supply, heating and other systems is vital to city development. Gaolan county has implemented the renovation of underground pipeline networks, promoted the renewal of old infrastructure, solving problems such as urban waterlogging caused by aging and leakage of the county's main pipeline network.

Among the top ten measures taken by the county this year is the renovation of the water supply, drainage, heating pipelines, and facilities in residential areas.

The renovation of old residential areas is a key link in urban renewal. From 2019 to 2024, the county has completed the renovation of 72 old residential areas, covering an area of 393,000 square meters and benefiting 4,220 households.

Thanks to these aesthetic and quality improvements, old residential areas have never looked newer or cleaner.

Since the launch of urban renewal work, the county has invested 320 million yuan ($44.67 million) to implement over 20 maintenance, renovation, upgrade, and improvement projects in local infrastructure.

This has led to a centralized heating rate of 100 percent, a water supply capacity of 23,500 cubic meters per day, and a green coverage rate of 39.7 percent.
