The 6th China (Gansu) Traditional Chinese Medicine Industry Expo opened in Longxi county, Dingxi, Northwest China's Gansu province, on Aug 24. 

Focusing on the theme "Inheritance and innovation, openness and sharing", the event brought together nearly 1,000 experts, scholars, and business representatives from across China to discuss the preservation and innovative development of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).

As a cultural treasure of the Chinese nation, TCM has gained a strong foothold in Gansu, a province rich in medicinal resources. With 3,626 types of Chinese herbal medicines, including 276 of the nation's 363 key varieties, Gansu leads the country in both planting area and output of medicinal ingredients, making it a crucial national base for green medicinal production and supply.

The revitalization of TCM in Gansu is currently seeing an increase in innovation and high-quality growth. During the expo, agreements on 68 cooperation projects worth 8.97 billion yuan ($1.25 billion) and 38 procurement agreements valued at 4.67 billion yuan were signed, injecting new vitality into the high-quality development of Gansu's TCM industry.

This year's expo highlighted greater technological appeal and international flair. Across a 25,000-square-meter exhibition area, products spanning the entire industry chain were displayed — from authentic medicinal materials and refined prepared pieces to AI-aided diagnostic equipment and intelligent processing machinery. 

From fields to smart factories, and from classical prescriptions to AI diagnostics, the expo served not only as a display of achievements but also as a vision of the future.
