A new 300,000-kilowatts wind power project in the Wudu district of Longnan city — located in China's Northwest Gansu province — was successfully connected to the grid recently. 

Situated atop Jiushan Mountain — at the junction of Maying and Longxing townships — the wind farm has quickly gone viral as a hit internet-famous spot, praised for its harmonious blend of clean energy and stunning natural scenery.

At dawn, visitors who climb to the peak at over 2,700 meters above sea level are greeted by a sea of clouds blanketing the mountains. 

The wind turbines turn slowly above the clouds and as the first sunbeams break through, they illuminate both the silver turbine blades and the alpine meadows. This creates a striking visual, where technology and nature meet perfectly.

As a major provincial project and the largest high-altitude wind farm in Longnan in terms of capacity, the facility is estimated to generate about 559 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually, delivering significant economic and environmental benefits. 

Throughout its development, protection of the ecosystem was prioritized to ensure the project complemented the natural landscape. 

As a result, the wind turbines have now become a new local landmark. Hordes of tourists come, eager to experience the unique combination of clouds, stars, sunrise and wind power — galvanizing ecotourism in the area.
