The Meet Hexi Corridor promotion event was held in Shanghai on Sept 5, featuring presentations from five Gansu cities — Wuwei, Jinchang, Zhangye, Jiuquan and Jiayuguan — on their rich cultural tourism resources and modern industries, in order to drum up business and to foster cooperation.

The event entertained attendees with Dunhuang dance performances, restored costume shows from the Dunhuang murals, and Yugu ethnic wedding dances.

Local delicacies and intangible cultural heritage creations also attracted the keen interest of international guests.

Participants tried their hand at mural tracing, viewed photo exhibitions of the five cities and showed strong curiosity about water-saving agriculture and new energy industries.

Stretching for about 1,000 kilometers, from Wushao Mountain Ridge in the east to Xingxing Gorge in the west, the Hexi Corridor is named for its location west of the Yellow River.

Home to five UNESCO World Heritage sites, the region boasts rich cultural heritage and ecological significance.

In addition to cultural attractions, the promotion highlighted Hexi's green industries — including new energy, pharmaceuticals and modern seed production — demonstrating the area's potential for sustainable development.

To enhance its international accessibility, Gansu has increased flight connections, enabling more tourists from Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asia to fly directly to Lanzhou and Dunhuang cities, further opening up the Hexi Corridor to the world.
