As the core of the new energy sector in Northwest China's Gansu province, Jiuquan city is building a comprehensive new energy equipment manufacturing system based on a full industry supply chain. It has become the biggest and most diverse onshore wind power equipment manufacturing base in China.

From blades and towers to energy storage systems, and from components to complete turbine assemblies, Jiuquan has established a highly integrated and radiating new energy equipment industrial cluster. 

The city's current annual production capacity includes 2,600 wind turbine units, 2,450 sets of blades and 2,700 tower sections, ranking it first nationwide in terms of scale.

Leading companies have set up operations in Jiuquan, bringing strong momentum to the sector. 

Riyue Heavy Industry has invested 3.6 billion yuan ($506 million) in a large-scale wind power casting project. Windey Energy Technology Group, with a total investment of 2.4 billion yuan, is developing a green energy equipment industrial park. The first phase of its wind turbine assembly project already generated 2.1 billion yuan in output value in 2024. 

To date, Jiuquan has built an industrial ecosystem characterized by what has been called "leadership by major enterprises, synergy across supporting sectors and innovation-driven growth". 

As wind turbine blades turn and photovoltaic arrays spread across the Gobi Desert, this ancient land is being revitalized by the powerful rhythm of the new energy industry.
