A high-speed train was recently captured speeding through Zhangye, Gansu province, set against the majestic Qilian Mountains in a breathtaking autumn scene. The mountains were dressed in seasonal glory: snow-capped peaks, dark green spruce forests along the slopes, and golden-brown grasslands and fields at the foot, forming a layered landscape reminiscent of a natural oil painting.
Traveling along the Lanzhou-Xinjiang high-speed railway through the Hexi Corridor, the train offered passengers fleeting views of northern foothills, grazing livestock, and scattered rural dwellings. As a vital link between Gansu and Qinghai, the railway connects Zhangye's autumn vistas, Danxia landforms, and historical sites, shortening travel time while serving as a scenic high-speed route that boosts regional tourism and economic ties.
The speeding train set against the serene autumn beauty not only reflects the rapid development of transportation in Northwest China but also conveys a deeper narrative of environmental preservation in the Qilian Mountains and the cultural heritage of the Silk Road. Together, they form a dynamic yet poetic landmark along the Hexi Corridor.

Almost no one thinks of the fiddle when they think of the Silk Road. But American folk musician Kyle Dillingham does.
