In August this year, a sudden flash flood severely damaged houses, roads, and other infrastructure in several townships of Yuzhong county, Lanzhou city, Gansu. The following month, an earthquake struck neighboring Longxi county in Dingxi city, further increasing the urgency of regional recovery and reconstruction. After months of efforts, multiple resettlement sites in both areas have been completed, and affected villagers are gradually moving into their new homes.
At the resettlement site in Jiuzhuanggou village, Yuzhong county, villager Wang Lingping is arranging her new 80-square-meter house. In Maliantan village, resident Zhang Zhengpan has already settled into his new home, which is equipped with an insulation layer that keeps the indoor temperature at 26 C, making it much warmer than his old residence.

Currently, 325 resettlement houses across six sites in Yuzhong county have entered the inspection and handover stage, with supporting roads and utility networks completed simultaneously.
Facing post-earthquake reconstruction, Longxi county in Dingxi city has adopted an innovative strategy by repairing and reinforcing existing homes, resettling families in scattered locations, and establishing new centralized communities. All seven centralized resettlement sites in the county have now commenced full-scale construction, laying a solid foundation for residents to move in by the end of June 2026.
In this reconstruction campaign against the cold, new homes are now radiating warmth and hope.
