Fourth session of 14th Gansu Provincial People's Congress opens in Lanzhou
The fourth session of the 14th Gansu Provincial People's Congress opened in Lanzhou, Gansu province, on the morning of Jan 27. A total of 487 deputies from across the province and various sectors attended the gathering, undertaking the trust of the people and earnestly fulfilling the sacred duties bestowed by the constitution and the law.
Having convened at a critical juncture marking the successful conclusion of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) and the commencement of the subsequent 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–30), this important meeting is scheduled to run for four days and will conclude on Jan 30.
During the session, deputies will hear and deliberate on the government work report of Gansu province, review and approve the outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan as well as the 2026 Plan for National Economic and Social Development.
They will also examine and approve the provincial fiscal budget for 2026, and hear and deliberate on the work reports of the Standing Committee of the Gansu Provincial People's Congress, the Gansu Provincial High People's Court, and the Gansu Provincial People's Procuratorate.
Election matters will also be conducted.
Prior to the session, the deputies conducted in-depth research at the grassroots level, focusing on key areas such as scientific and technological innovation, rural vitalization, social welfare, cultural heritage, and ecological protection. They have also prepared a number of high-quality motions and suggestions.
Representing various fields including grassroots healthcare, education, agriculture, and enterprises, the deputies brought forward the most pressing concerns of the people and their earnest expectations for Gansu's development, fully demonstrating the sense of responsibility.
