Zhangye Economic and Technological Development Zone, originally Zhangye Industrial Park, was established in 1994 and became a national-level economic and technological development zone in March 2013.

With a planning area of 112.87 square kilometers, the zone boasts an ecological science and technology industry park, a circular economy demonstration zone, an agricultural product industry park and a coal chemical industry park.

Located in Ganzhou district of Zhangye city, the zone is near the Lanzhou-Xinjiang railway, G30 expressway and No 227 national highway, 24 kilometers away from the city's airport.

Local rich resources of minerals, water, wind power, land and agriculture offer the zone a solid development foundation.

The zone has five pillar industries — agricultural products and by-product processing, nonferrous metallurgy new materials, new energy and equipment manufacturing, biopharmaceuticals and modern services.
